LotPixel Documentation

Official LotPixel documentation covering Hub installation, system requirements, release notes, user guide, Blender & 3ds Max integration, and troubleshooting.

General

LotPixel Hub is a desktop application that allows you to access the LotPixel asset library, download assets, and import them directly into supported 3D applications.

LotPixel Hub also provides tools for managing downloads, configuring import settings, and automatically setting up materials inside supported 3D software.

Currently supported software:

  • Blender
  • 3ds Max (Arnold, V-Ray, Corona)

Support for additional 3D applications will be added in future updates.

No. Using LotPixel Hub is not mandatory.

However, the Hub provides a faster and more streamlined workflow, including one-click imports and centralized asset management.

Yes. To prevent abuse and bulk downloading, fair-use download limits are applied. These limits do not affect normal users but restrict automated or excessive download behavior.

Yes. During the beta period, LotPixel Hub is completely free to use.

System Requirements & Compatibility

Currently, only Windows 10 and Windows 11 (64-bit) are supported.

General:

  • Windows 10 / 11
  • 4 GB RAM
  • 1 GB free disk space

For Blender:

  • Blender 4.2 or higher

For 3ds Max:

  • Autodesk 3ds Max 2023 or higher

At the moment, LotPixel Hub supports:

  • Blender
  • 3ds Max

Support for additional software such as the following is planned during the beta phase:

  • SketchUp
  • Unreal Engine
  • Maya
  • Unity
  • Cinema 4D

These integrations will be introduced progressively in future updates.

Installation & Login

Download the installer from the official LotPixel website, run it, and complete the setup. The application must be launched manually after installation.

You must log in first. No assets or features are visible until you sign in using your LotPixel account.

No. The Hub does not auto-start and must be launched manually.

Yes. An active internet connection is required for login, asset access, and downloads.

Microsoft Store & Updates

Yes. LotPixel Hub is distributed and updated through Microsoft Store.

You will start the installation from LotPixel Hub and it will automatically redirect you to the Microsoft Store download page.

Yes. A Microsoft account is required to install applications from Microsoft Store.

Yes. You do not need to search for LotPixel Hub in the Store.

The installer automatically directs you to the correct Microsoft Store page and starts the installation process.

Yes. LotPixel Hub is updated through Microsoft Store.

In addition, using the latest version of LotPixel Hub is required. Outdated versions may stop working and you may be required to update before continuing to use the application.

No. Updates are handled by Microsoft Store.

If automatic updates are disabled in your system settings, you may be prompted to update before continuing to use LotPixel Hub.

No. All your downloaded assets, settings, and authentication remain intact. Only the application version is updated.

No. For security, compatibility, and performance reasons, older builds may be blocked. You must use the latest available version.

Local Library & Files

No. The Local tab only lists downloaded assets. An internet connection is still required to use the Hub.

By default:

Documents/LotPixel Hub/

It stores your authentication token. If deleted, you will need to log in again.

Blender & 3ds Max Integration

No.

When you log in to LotPixel Hub, you can choose the software you want to use (Blender or 3ds Max). After selecting your software, the required plugin/add-on can be installed with a single click directly from the application.

The plugin will be downloaded and installed automatically. No additional steps are required.

You can also update or reinstall plugins later from Settings → Plugin Config.

Open Settings → Plugin Config inside LotPixel Hub and reinstall or update the plugin for your selected software.

Blender: Models are imported at the current 3D Cursor location.

3ds Max: Models are imported at the scene origin (0, 0, 0).

Yes.

After installing the plugin/add-on, Blender or 3ds Max must be restarted for the integration to become active.

⚠️ Even though the installation is automatic, the software will not detect the plugin until it is restarted.

Download Settings

No. The Hub only downloads the texture maps that actually exist for each specific asset.

For the highest quality, EXR displacement maps are recommended. JPG displacement is also supported.

Yes. You can choose which LOD levels to download in the Download Settings panel.

No. Only the selected format (FBX or OBJ) will be downloaded.

Import Settings

No. All Download and Import settings are persistent and automatically remembered by LotPixel Hub.

No. Only one LOD level can be imported at a time.

Yes. A complete PBR material is automatically created and applied during import.

Troubleshooting

Check your internet connection and try again.

If downloads work but importing does not, please check the following:

  • Make sure the correct plugin (Blender or 3ds Max) is installed.
  • Ensure the plugin was installed through LotPixel Hub Settings.
  • Restart the 3D application after plugin installation.
  • Make sure the application version is supported by the plugin.

If the problem persists, reinstall the plugin from the Hub settings.

Blender

This usually happens because of the 3D Cursor position. In Blender, some objects are placed at the current 3D Cursor location. If the 3D Cursor is positioned far away from the scene center, the imported model may appear far from the expected location.

Check the 3D Cursor position and move it back to the center of the scene if necessary.

3ds Max

In 3ds Max, imported models are always placed at the scene origin (0, 0, 0) by default. Because of this, the issue related to the 3D Cursor does not occur in 3ds Max.

Blender

For displacement to work properly in Blender, your mesh must meet one of the following requirements:

  • The mesh must be high-poly, or
  • A Subdivision Surface Modifier must be added to the object.

Without sufficient geometry, displacement maps cannot produce visible height details.

3ds Max

Displacement in 3ds Max depends on the renderer being used (such as V-Ray, Corona, or Arnold). These render engines handle displacement at render time, so additional subdivision modifiers are usually not required. The renderer will automatically generate the necessary geometry during rendering.
